Valico di Fusine - Rateče (ITSI)
In june 2024 we drove after we walked from Rateče to the 3i-point ATITSI
over route 202 to the borrdercrossing Valico di Fusine - Rateče on Mount Peč.
Only Policia (IT) is on the border and they check every vehicle/person, incl. all Schengen members. The bordercrossing only is open for local traffic.
Busca is a mountain of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines located between the high val Montone and the high Val Tramazzo. The massif is characterized by the presence of a perennial flame, active since before 1500 and erroneously called “volcano”.
A burning fountain, this is the smallest volcano in Italy, even in the world.
The perennial flame is due to the emanation of gaseous hydrocarbons which, in contact with oxygen, remain perpetually on. The flames that emerge from the subsoil, in the middle of an uncultivated field, create a particular suggestion.
